Gainesville Target Range – Founded in 2000

Gainesville's Premiere Target Range
We’re celebrating our 12th year of operation. The Gainesville Target Range is a great place for you to train and be active with all of your shooting skills. We are one of the largest private clubs in the North Central Florida. We invite you to visit our 40-acre training facility and discover why so many have found GTR to be the best shooting facility in the Gainesville region and all of North Central Florida.

Gainesville Target Range has Five Ranges For You to Train On:

  • A 100-yard rifle range for all semi-automatic and bolt action rifles. You must first go through the new members orientation course before you can shoot at the range.
  • Two 25-yard ranges for pistol firing. The first is our non-steel pistol range which is for paper and cardboard targets. The second 25-yard range is our steel pistol range. You must first obtain your NRA Range Safety Officers (RSO) rating or your Certified Firearms Instructors (CFI) rating before you can shoot and train on this range. If you have this rating, you can draw from the holster on this range.
  • A 100-yard tactical firearms training range used by Law Enforcement and Military personnel only. A civilian may use this range only if he or she is actively involved in a GTR tactical firearms class that is conducting training on this range.
  • Rogers Range.  The 75 yard World’s Best Reactionary Shooting range.  Designed and constructed by the World Famous Shooter Bill Rogers.

About Our New Rogers Range

Rogers Ranges are uniquely suited to train tactical shooters quickly

The brand new GTR Rogers Range develops the critical skills that every shooter requires – the ability to rapidly acquire and engage adversaries in close quarters. It’s fundamental to survival and success, and is able to support fast target discrimination.

On the Rogers Range, there are six lanes, each with seven targets at 7-20 yards. Each target is pneumatically operated by computer. There are nine primary courses of fire all designed to push and stretch the shooter’s abilities. Throughout the courses of fire, 8” steel targets are only exposed for .5 to .75 of a second. That’s highly challenging considering the average “precision shooter’s” reaction time to hit a target from a security holster is about 1.5 seconds.

Dense repetition develops exceptional reactionary shooters as they negotiate the partial targets that are moving quickly.  The steel targets are reactive in design. They must be successfully hit in order to stop them; peripheral hits or fragments do not stop them. This instills the paramount skill of “following through” until the adversary is neutralized.

The Rogers Range is a popular feature here at Gainesville Target Range and shooters are able to measurably increase their confidence and success in rapid and accurate (and discretionary) firing scenarios.
