The Bill Rogers course provides effective defensive training, especially in stressful situations where a threat may be present.
You and your fellow students learn to think quickly on your feet and how to operate responsibly with an emphasis placed on safety first. Most real-life confrontations involving handguns occur quickly and at close distance.
For instance most law enforcement shootings occur within seven yards. National statistics also show that officers miss their targets more than 75% of the time!
The Bill Rogers course is significantly more practical than conventional handgun instruction. Typical handgun courses focus on precision shooting where the target, shooter, and firearm are all stabilized prior to the shooting cycle. The goal is to execute a highly-controlled press motion of the trigger while the handgun sight is trained on the target. Historically, students of precision shooting have not fared well in defensive situations.
The GTR Bill Rogers course trains students how to act smartly and responsibly in real-life defensive situations. Students learn to successfully engage and hit small reactive moving targets that are only exposed for fractions of a second. - Open to participants who comply with enrollment criteria, students must have attended a prior Gainesville Target Range pistol course or a similar course (approval required) prior to attending this course.
